Job Description:
A CAD (Computer-Aided Design) Administrator is responsible for managing, maintaining, and supporting computer-aided design software and systems within an organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- CAD Software Management: Overseeing the installation, configuration, and updating of CAD software.
- Technical Support: Providing technical assistance and troubleshooting for CAD software users.
- Data Management: Organizing and maintaining CAD files and databases, ensuring proper version control and file access.
- Training: Conducting training sessions for CAD users to enhance their skills and maximize efficiency.
- Customization: Customizing CAD software settings and tools to suit specific project requirements.
- Collaboration: Facilitating collaboration between various departments or teams that utilize CAD designs.
- Quality Control: Ensuring compliance with industry standards and best practices for CAD designs.
- Documentation: Creating and maintaining documentation related to CAD standards, procedures, and guidelines.
- Analysis of tools specially developed for in the CAD area and their replacement by standard software.
- Planning, configuration and rollout of updates of the CAD/PLM applications.
- 3rd level support for our CAD users at national and international level.
- Consulting and implementation of requirements from the specialist area.
Other Responsibilities:
Additionally, a CAD Administrator might collaborate with IT departments to ensure the smooth functioning of CAD software and systems, evaluate new CAD technologies, and recommend upgrades or improvements.
This role requires a strong understanding of CAD software, excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively with team members across different departments.
Maintenance of tools and add-ons for the CAD systems used at Schüco (Autodesk Inventor & AutoCAD) and the associated environment.
Skills / Expertise Needed
- Successfully completed degree in Mechanical Engineering, computer science, engineering or comparable degree or experience.
- Several years of relevant professional experience in the administration and development of CAD landscapes as well as their integration into PLM systems.
- Knowledge of a higher programming language such as C++ or C#
- Experience in SAP-PLM as well as Autodesk Inventor & Autodesk AutoCAD would be desirable.
- Analytical thinking, strong communication skills, quick comprehension and solution orientation. – Experience with release changes and rollout processes in the CAD environment
